Inspired to google myself after reading this, I've found that the first hit is a MD in Stamford, CT. The second is my facebook profile. The doctor can't be happy about this turn of events.

Very interesting. As I'm sure you recall, I've been "bitten" by the internet a few times in the past, so while I still believe in being open and not intentionally hiding aspects of my online self, I definitely self-censor to a greater degree BEFORE I post something than I used to.

As far as the name sharing, I do a self-google every so often just to see what comes up...my name generally returns a bunch of people who aren't me for the first few pages. But searching my screenname reveals quite a bit more. At this point the internet detectives could have me dead to rights, so being aware of this I again tend to self-censor more than I used to.

This is an issue that those of us with large music collections and iPods have faced many times. I've found two solutions that I felt were acceptable for me, personally. 1) I am a foobar user as well, I got converted a few years ago and haven't gone back since, probably only because of the ability to view my collection by file tree, so simple, so wonderful. Anywho, there is an iPod plugin that will manage to get your music on your iPod and that is about all it does the last time I used it. It's not smart enough to sync or anything like that and you can't get the album art like iTunes. Now the solution I am currently using is a RockBox on my iPod. I have always hated the way iTunes and iPods organized by id3 tags (except some id3 tags that apparently aren't readable by any other software, it doesn't matter how anal I am about tagging, things are still in the wrong place), so I put RockBox on so I could organize by file tree, like our old iRivers used to do (RIP). I've managed to find enough skins that I can get album art and it looks pretty slick. It's not perfect but it works for me.

Now, as far as foobar goes, I don't visit SA much anymore but there is a really helpful foobar thread in SH/SC. I am currently using FofR's configuration and I love it. There is even a handy guide that makes configuration go really quickly. http://www.fooblog2000.com/fofr-configuration-guide. Some people LOVE iTunes and I've never understood it. I honestly can't figure it out. Not to mention the fact that Apple was inflicting Safari upon Windows users with the iTunes updater. Apple makes amazing hardware, always beautifully designed but I'll be damned if they've ever made more than just a few pieces of software that I've ever been impressed with.

[...] you say? Well, until recently I lived a blissful musical existence without it even installed- until I bought an iPod. Since it was a new fangled revision, all the third party iPod syncing software was useless. [...]
